Places for the Heart: Giza

The Sphinx (Giza, Egypt)

What could be more romantic than standing on one of the historical spots of Egypt, entering one of the largest and oldest constructions?  The land of the pharoahs and lovers like Cleopatra and Marc Antony will make you want to create some heat of your own.  Here are the three famous pyramids and the mysterious Sphinx , located in Giza.  Absolutely spectacular.  Absolutely romantic.

Places for the Heart: Lake Como

Lake Como or Lago di Como is one of the lake towns located in Northern Italy.  One hour away from Milan, Lake Como offers a mesmerizing and serene setting.

This was my first introduction to Italy.  I arrived at the airport in Milan and took the train to Lake Como.  I had a big suitcase with which I lugged around.  I won’t travel around like that today, I’ve learned my lesson.  ;-)

Fortunately, a young man sat in my car — a handsome Italian.  He had dark wavy hair that was combed back and reached below his ears, sharp cheekbones that defined his face even more and brown eyes behind a pair of fashionable glasses.  For a few seconds, he watched with amusement as I fought with my heavy suitcase.  Then he offered to help me.  When he stood up I was able to see how slim and tall he was — I’d say about 6feet.  He easily swung my baggage overhead and made sure it was secure and wouldn’t fall on anyone’s head.  I found out he was an astronomer and lived in another town.  We had a pleasant conversation till I reached my stop.  He helped me take down my luggage and we said good bye, then he continued on to his destination.

Lake Como was a perfect and romantic place to visit.  I’d highly recommend it as a first stop in Italy before moving to other places there.
